Adding burghul to the beef mixture, lightens up these burgers.
1/3 cup bulgur
3/4 pound lean ground beef
1/2 cup chopped watercress
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
3 tablespoons Gorgonzola - crumbled
4 hamburger buns - low calorie, split
In a bowl, mix bulgur with 1/2 cup warm water; let stand for 30 minutes.
Preheat the broiler. Add beef, watercress, salt and pepper to plumped burghul and mix. Shape the the mixture into 8 1/3 inch thick patties. Sandwich the cheese between the patties to form 4 cheese filled burger.
Broil the patties on a lightly oiled rack until browned and cooked through (5 minutes per side). Serve on buns.
