Its almost ridiculous to include a recipe for Grilled Cheese on the site. However, there was a time when I had no idea to make one and I want kids and novices to learn about cooking and how it can be simple AND good. This all-time favorite comfort food works best with plain, old presliced bread (currently I use Orowheat) and sharp Cheddar. Of course, the 1 ounce of cheese is just a guideline. Also, although Cheddar is my personal favorite Swiss, mozzarella, Gouda, Monterey Jack, oh just about any melting cheese works great.

vegetable cooking spray
2 slices bread
1 ounce cheddar cheese - sliced

Coat a large nonstick skillet with cooking spray. Heat over medium high heat. Place cheese slices in between bread. When skillet is hot, add sandwich. Cook until side begins to brown (3 minutes). Using spatula, flip sandwich (the melted cheese should hold it together nicely). Cook until browned (another 3 minutes). Remove. Eat warm. Enjoy.
